Works well for me

I have tried a few of the more expensive products, including the VXI Blue Parrot B250-XT+ and the Top Dawg Trucker, and I personally think this one has the best value. I paid $35, which was $50 cheaper than the other two.I like this one the best for a few reasons: it is simple. There is not a lot of extra plastic here, like the VXI has, hanging down on your head, it is light, easy to wear for a long time, and comfortable.The button is directly over the ear, which was more intuitive for me.I was able to pair it with my iMac, my iPad, and my iPhone with no trouble at all. I have used it for Skype and iChat on the iMac, which both work well. I have used it for calls and for doing personal recordings on the iPhone. Both of these also work great. It works well in the car. While driving, I prefer to only have one ear covered (vs Top Dawg's biaural design). My favorite use is on the iPad, however, for making Skype calls and for dictating, which works very well. I happen to be disabled and am not a great typist. This headset along with the new iPad's dictation function has enabled me to use the iPad for word processing, e-mailing, messaging, etc. in a way that I was not previously able to do. Because the headset is light and simple, I can carry it around everywhere.I had hoped I would be able to use this headset for dictation on the iMac as well, using Dragon, but this is one thing I was not able to do--Dragon did not recognize the headset. Possibly in the new version of Dragon...Although I really like the headset, I still think that most of these plastic headsets are a bit cheap. I would be willing to pay more for something just like this that was a bit higher end construction.

Serves its purpose

My husband is a truck driver and is always on the road. He has to be hands free to drive and he really likes the headphone. The clarity is awesome although once in a while, in certain areas he drives to, he says he hears his voice echo. It doesn't happen all the time just once in a while. Definitely worth the price.

It's not perfect but it is the closest to perfect I've used. I've always been torn between the Moto and Plantronics brand headsets. The reason is the Moto headsets turn on instantly when you open the boom. They are also very comfortable. The problem is that the boom hinge breaks over time or if you put the headset in your pocket. Also, the battery life is okay but not great. Last, while the early Moto headsets had great voice quality, the newer ones are muffled sounding.The Plantronics headsets get louder then other brands and they last. I have 4 different models and I've never had one of them break. They are rugged! Some aren't very comfortable though. Their battery lasts a very long time so I don't have to carry another charger when I travel for a day or two, which is good since Plantronics uses a proprietary charger. I always wondered why they don't use a standard mini or micro USB jack like everyone else. While I always liked Plantronics best, there was lots of room for improvement.Enter the Plantronics M50. First, it has a slide switch for power. One of the most annoying things about most Bluetooth headsets is you must press and hold the power button for several seconds to power on the headset. By the time you do this, your call may be missed. This headset powers up instantly with the slide of the power switch. No delays and no missed calls. It is so small and light, you barely notice it is on your ear. It fits securely so I don't worry about it flying off my head if I bend down, turn my head quickly or I'm running to catch my flight. It gets plenty loud, which is a big complaint with other brand headsets. And, it uses a standard micro USB charging jack so I can charge it with my phone's charger. It includes a charger as well. The unit has 3 controls: a power on/off slider, a volume button and an answer/hang up button. It also has a status LED. The LED is red when charging, blue when talking, flashing red/blue for pairing and off when streaming audio. To pair the unit, turn it on, press and hold the answer button for a few seconds until the LED toggles red/blue and then follow your phone's pairing procedure.When in operation, the headset gives you status messages through the earpiece so you aren't wondering if you turned it on or off, etc. When you switch the headset on, it speaks, "Power On, Battery High, Connected". When you switch it off; it says, "Power Off". The unit uses a single volume button that toggles between 3 volume settings. Each push toggles to the next setting high/med/low/med/high. With each push of the button, you hear a tone that gets louder or lower with the volume setting. When you reach maximum volume, the headset says, "Maximum Volume". As the battery gets weaker, the headset will give a voice prompt of "Battery Medium" and "Battery Low". At maximum volume, the audio did crackle sometimes but it was very loud so that is to be expected. While the headset only has 3 volume levels, you have finer volume control using the phones volume buttons.The range of this headset is excellent. Most headset crackle if I have the headset on my right ear and the phone in my left front pocket. No cracking from this headset. While this headset claims to be noise and wind canceling, I didn't find the cancellation feature to be as effective as my Voyager 520. That said, the outgoing voice quality is excellent; crisp, clear and loud. Even with background noise present, my voice punched through.Now for the best feature of all. This headset allows you to stream audio from the phone to the headset! You can listen to music, stream radio, podcasts or GPS directions directly to the headset. I have a radio app and a police scanner app on my Android phone and it is great to be able to listen privately through the headset. Don't expect high fidelity but it is fine for voice and okay for music if you are not too picky and don't care that it is not stereo. The LED is not illuminated when using the streaming function, so you do not attract unwanted attention. If the phone rings while you are listening, you get a tune in the earpiece as well as ringer or vibration on the phone. Just press the answer button and you can answer the phone. The streaming audio is silenced. This part isn't perfect and it caused a force close on one of my Droid apps. I'm not sure if that is a headset or app problem. It was a minor nuisance but the important thing is I was able to take my call. One note about the answer button... There is no visible button. You just press the outside surface of the headset where it meets you ear. It was easier than many headsets that have a protruding button.This headset has a feature called "Multipoint" that lets you pair it with 2 phones and allows you to answer either phone. I have no use for that feature so I did not test it.Conclusion:This is a great little headset that combines all the features I want and need. It is small, light, loud and comfortable. It charges with my phone's charger and it streams audio. What's not to love?

Good sound quality, comfortable fit, great battery life!

I have owned many bluetooth headsets over the years so here is my opinion of the Plantronics M50 in comparison. First of all this headset can stream music or podcasts from your smart phone which none of my previous headsets could do. It also has built-in noise reduction to reduce or eliminate background noise like wind, rain, traffic or music. It has voice alerts that tell you the battery level, volume level, talk time and more. It has a special battery meter that will show up on your screen if you have an iPhone.This headset syncs easily on my Samsung Gravity Touch or PS3 if you happen to play video games online. The sound quality is good for an average priced headset. I don't have any problems with disconnects or voice transmission.I have also owned other headsets that tend to want to move or feel like they are going to fall off. Not a problem with this one, it's held securely in place and is fairly comfortable.I love the battery life on this headset and it will last me at least 8 hours of constant use. I usually stick with a Motorola headset because most of them also have good battery life. I have had many headsets that only last for about 4 hours and I didn't like that at all. You can get a lot of use out of this headset without constantly recharging it.This headset will come with a wall charger and it's covered by a 1 year limited warranty. For the price I think this is one of the better headset options at the present time.

Pairs well with Skype

This is a cute BT headset that is very lightweight. It pairs very easily with Skype (as long as you have a BT adapter). The standby time is about 16 hr, and I've had a conversation lasting +5 hours straight on this thing with no problems. I've paired it with my computer and phone, and there have been no problems at all. The pairing is very easy.One of the best features of the headset for me is that fact that it has a switch to turn off/on, and a voice will tell you when you've turned it off/on. This is waaaaay better than other BT where you have to double/triple press a button not knowing if you've turned it on or off.I knocked off 1 star because the ear loop is made of thin plastic and it could very easily break. Once that loop breaks, there won't be a way for me to keep it secure to my ear. There are NO additional ear buds that come with it. What you receive is what you get. The ear buds fit me fine, but others might not feel that way.

Just what I wanted

I love these headphones. They are lightweight and don't bounce around when I run. I usually take one side of the headphone off of one ear so that I can be more aware of my surroundings and they stay put on my head. The only disappointment is the covers that fit over the earbuds, they come off all the time, I am shocked that I still have them both. Overall it is a wonderful product.

The new reigning champion of Bluetooth headsets

Let me start by saying I have a TON of bluetooth headsets: Jabra, Jawbone, Blueant, Motorola, etc., etc., etc. The Blueant T1 is the reigning champion. Why? The battery life is great. I listen to a ton of music throughout the day and I can get 5-6 hours out of the device. That's solid play folks.I like the voice control as well. Driving down the road and a call comes in, if it's in your dialing directory, it will announce the name and you can either say "Answer" or "Ignore". You never have to lift a finger.You can touch the MFB and ask for "Check Battery" and it will let you know the charge level.It works SUPER with my iPhone (both 3GS and 4). Click the MFB and say "Phone commands" and you'll hear the iPhone "Beep Beep" and you can issue any valid iPhone command.The wind reduction is also outstanding. I can't attest to exactly 22mph but I can have a great conversation on a windy day. It may work great at 22mph, I just haven't been that precise.What's there not to like? I just bought one for my wife as well. You won't be sorry.

I've been using a T1 for a few months now. It's a good news/bad news situation.Voice quality is good on both end of the calls. Setup is easy. I don't find the voice control particularly useful, but some people might. The biggest problem is securing the T1 to your ear. The over the ear option is clunky and not particularly comfortable. The in-ear pads are comfortable, but not secure. Even with the largest ear pad, the headset is constantly falling out of my ear. Worse, the ear pad's are difficult to put on do not stay securely on the headset. That means if you keep the T1 in your pocket and pull it out to use it, you're likely to find the ear pad doesn't come with it.Because the ear pad is constantly falling off, I managed to lose it, meaning I had to pay $16 (including shipping) for 2 replacement ear pads just to be able to use the headset I paid $60 for. The USB recharging cord is also ridiculously short, but it's a standard connector, so you can pretty easily find a replacement.I want to like the T1. But having to spend a couple of minutes fiddling with the ear pads practically every time I want to use it and having it constantly fall out of my ear makes it not particularly useful. I can't recommend it unless you are satisfied with the over-the-ear option.

Excellent Bluetooth! Good compatability and features!

This is my first Bluetooth headset and I love it so far. I got it mainly for walking around the house while doing chores and talking on the phone, but it is also very useful while driving since I have not gotten an in-car hands-free solution yet.Comfort is good. There are several different in-ear attachments and you're bound to find one that fits well enough. It wouldn't stay in my ear on its own, so I used the over-the-ear attachment that it comes with. The over-the-ear attachment is somewhat fragile as it's made from hard clear plastic, and they could have made it a little more flexible, but it's reasonable sturdy and comfortable. Plus, it comes with two of these attachments in case you lose or break one. I can easily wear the earpiece with little to no discomfort for 3-4 hours a day, if its broken up into 1 hour segments. If I had to use it for 8 hours a day straight then I could see it becoming a little less comfortable. The key is to take it off now and then.Compatibility is good with my BlackBerry Bold 9700. It paired up with no problems whatsoever. Although, I did have to disable "Encryption" in the Bluetooth settings for this device on the phone to get it work properly with T-Mobile's UMA (Wi-Fi calling) service. So, if you're having this problem then try that fix.Updatability is a nightmare. Absolutely do not try to update the firmware whatsoever. They just released this new update program and it is not ready for prime time. I tried to update, because I thought it might fix the UMA problem, and the program crashed and I spent an hour on the phone with tech support (plus a 10-minute wait on hold) to un-brick my headset. On the up side, their tech support is very good.Range is good. I can walk most places in a 2000 sq. ft. home with the phone in a central location and still have a good connection. I can even go into the backyard and garage a bit with the phone still in the living room or kitchen before it starts to get some static.Sound quality is good for calls, and I haven't heard any complaints from the other end either. The wind and noise cancellation seems to work pretty well. A2DP sound quality could be better, but it's acceptable. If the volume is too loud, then try TURNING IT DOWN. I will admit that the voice which announces the name of your device once it's connected it quite annoying, but the other built-in male voices are pleasant.The voice command features are really fantastic as well here, and these were the deal-sealer for me. The "Call Information" command will dial Microsoft's Bing-411, an 800 number that tells you everything from local businesses to news and weather. The only qualm I have about the voice commands is that when you say "Phone Commands" there's this unnecessarily long description of what it's accessing for you. It should just go straight to the Phone's command prompt, or perhaps play the description once, not every time.The skins that it comes with are nice, and seem like they add some protection, but they make the buttons too difficult to press. The buttons that are normally raised, become recessed within the skin.Its also lightweight, has good battery life, charges with a regular micro-USB (although comes with a very short cord). All together, a good unit for a good price.

Bluetooth Head Gear

I used the product once and the ear piece broke, but, customer service was so fast an apolegetic that this happened, that the sent me a new ear piece within days. The earphone is now being used and works fantastically.

I am very disappointed with the Bluetooth I purchased for the following reasons. The volume is very low and I can't hear well when people call me! It's very statikey and also my phone calls don't stay connected! I made a mistake to purchase it.

Disappointing

Do not be taken in by the low price on this headset. At least the headset that I received never seemed to get fully charged. The mic on it had very low sensitivity so I had to direct my voice to the mic with my hand by cupping my mouth while talking (I guess that beats the purpose of a hands-free). Finally, and this was the most exasperating part, the unit used to drop its connection with the phone after just about every conversation and had to be re-synced. Obviously, I'm not using it anymore. To anyone looking for a mic, I'd recommend Plantronics or Nokia's own bluetooth headsets. They are worth the higher price tag.

Pretty good

I received this handset as a gift, and first I loved the way it looked and felt. Using it was a different story at first, maybe because I never had a wireless handset before. It took a while to get used to it, and I am still not using some of the features (like redialing the last number) because it did not work for me once, and I never got around to trying it again. In all, I am very happy with this handset, it serves me well for what its purpose is - answering phone calls while driving.
