By Anonymous
Despite appearances, these Jabra Sport Corded headphones are not an in-ear/earplug design, but rather small outside-the-ear headphones with large bendable earhooks to help them stay put during active use, an upmarket take on a form that's usually been taken only by cheap "sports" headphones. It's an interesting form factor, with distinct advantages and disadvantages. In use, with any of the included eargels and any shape bent into the hooks, these Jabras stay well outside the ear canal. This is a deliberate design feature, since it allows a lot of environmental noise in -- helping users stay safe while running near traffic, for instance -- but it also has some bad consequences for the sound. The headphones are very weak in the bass and lower midrange, not producing much richness of tone even for non-bass-heavy music (and they're pretty much unacceptable for hip-hop even with heavy EQ bass boosting). In any use, they need to be driven very loud, near the top of the volume range, for acceptable sound, cutting down on battery life and headroom. The sound tends toward tinny treble-heaviness, but is otherwise pleasant; still, at this price point, there are a host of far better choices for serious music-listening.The nifty form factor is what makes these Jabra headphones worth considering for active users, despite their average-at-best sound quality. Their distinctive wide, rubbery, yellow cable is excellent, the best I've seen on any set of portable earphones for resisting tangling, and includes a useful, moveable clip as well as a phone-compatible mic/remote. (But the in-line volume control is useless, considering how loudly they need to be driven in order to be audible at all; every user will have to leave it at maximum.) The earphones themselves have massive, rubbery-silicone ear hooks, which can be bent into a shape that keeps them in place even if you're moving around a lot -- a great design for exercise. The downside is that the ear hooks are so clunky and fat that they are very hard to fit with glasses -- worn with glasses, they tend to come unhooked easily, or to end up in uncomfortable positions.TL;DR: In short, these headphones are pretty good for:* use while exercising outdoors* preserving the ability to hear your surroundings* resisting cable tanglingBut DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER buying these if:* you wear glasses* you like very loud or bass-heavy music* you want rich, deep sound for music listening in a quiet environment* you want to be isolated from environmental noiseRecommended only for heavy outdoor-exercise use; for any other use, you can get much better sound for the money with a different set of headphones. For great quiet listening sound in an outside-the-ear headphone, try some larger Grado cans instead; for a portable set of noise-isolating earphones with excellent sound, consider in-ear models from Klipsch or Shure. None of these is directly comparable to these Jabras' oddball exercise-friendly form factor, of course -- but as a result they're also free of the compromises that the form imposes on the Jabras' sound quality. And users who want ear hooks for active use but don't care much about sound might also want to try a cheaper set of sports earphones before deciding to spend this much on workout-only headphones.

By Dr. Bojan Tunguz
Listening to music is an indispensible part of my workout. Over the years I've used many corded and cordless headphones, and all of them come with their own sets of pros and cons. As far as I am concerned, these Jabra Sport headphones are the best corded sports headphones that I've come across.Putting the headphones around your ears is a bit tricky, but once they are there they stay firmly in place. These headphones don't fit as tightly as some of the around-the-head wireless headphones that I have used (such as MOTOROKR S9), but they are much more comfortable. I've tried using them while running and they are did not fall out, something that regularly happens with my iPhone headphones. The sound quality of these headphones is OK. It's on par, or maybe slightly better, than the standard earphones that come with iPod and iPhone. It can't, however, compete with higher end in-ear headphones, especially those that provide some kind of noise cancellation. However, I've found that noise-canceling headphones are actually really weird to use with phone calls, so if the sound quality is not high on your priority list or if you want to have headphones that work well with phone calls, then these sport headphones might be for you.Overall I am fairly happy with the telephony features of these headphones. I've tried them with iPhone and Skype, and in both cases they performed well. The call quality was as good as they come. The headphones dropped out of the music player and picked up phone signal on my iPhone with no discernable glitches. This feature is often advertised with these kinds of headphones, but it doesn't always work smoothly. The headphone cords are well made and thanks to couple addition long enough to accommodate placement of the mp3 player almost anywhere on your body. There is a small plastic clip on the cord that allows you to fasten it to your clothing. This comes in handy when you are working out as it prevents the cord from getting entangled with your workout equipment. There is a volume slider on the cord as well, but unfortunately there are no buttons for skipping tracks. The cord is thin and flat (think linguini as opposed to spaghetti) and this helps prevent entanglements.I have not used these headphones long enough to know how sweat, rain and dust they are resistant. In my experience sweat is the biggest enemy of all exercise-aimed headphones, and have not come across any that don't eventually break down. The Jabra headphones seem well rubberized with hardly any buttons that could come in touch with sweat, so I am willing to give them a benefit of a doubt in this department. The headphones come with a small carrying case. If you regularly put your headphones in a gym bag or any other rough environment, then you will appreciate having them protected in such a case. The case also helps with the entangling problems. It is very easy to open and placing the headphones in it is straightforward and convenient. So far, I am satisfied with these headphones. If I discover anything else that warrants reporting I'll post it in this review in some future update.

By JJ
Although I find earbuds to be incredibly convenient and easy-to-use most of the time, they really don't work that well for exercising or doing strenuous activity. I decided to try these out for when I want to listen to music while moving around a lot. Unfortunately, when after much work I finally got these to stay in my ear, they proved to be incredibly uncomfortable and not play music that well either. The Bad:-They're uncomfortable. This headset has a hook-like design that fits around your ear much like a bluetooth headset. The hook is does not seem to have been developed with comfort in mind at all; although it may very well feel differently on someone else's ear. The hook push into my ear so hard that just wearing the headset for a few minutes causes my outer ear to ache horribly. If I try to loosen the headset, it creates an entirely different problem.-They're either too tight or too loose. When they're tight, you get the uncomfortable feeling that I just described. When you loosen them, however, they are quick to fall off the instant you ever-so-slightly shake your head. If it didn't claim to be a "sports headset" it wouldn't be as big of a problem, but I was honestly looking for something that would stay on my ear throughout heavy movement without me having to tighten it to the point of pain. The problems don't stop at how these headsets fit, though.-They don't have good sound quality. There are extension cords added with the headset to make it easier to not have to have your phone or iPod extremely close to you. Unfortunately, with each extension you add on, the sound quality gets worse; and when all three cords are connected, the sound is distorted beyond recognition. With just the smallest cord, the sound quality is pretty good but still not competitive with the sound from earbuds. The Good:-They are slightly customizable. There are different pads that you can place on the actual headset "speakers" to adapt them to your personal inner ear. This is a nice touch that I wish could somehow be used on the hook, as well.Overall, I really don't like or recommend this headset to anyone looking for something to use while exercising or moving. I'm sure other ear shapes will fit perfectly with this headset, but my ear shape clashes. I'd even go as far to say that I recommend earbuds over this headset. I just wasn't pleased at all with the product and won't be using it often at all.
