3Good for active use, but weak and bass-deficient sound
By Anonymous
Despite appearances, these Jabra Sport Corded headphones are not an in-ear/earplug design, but rather small outside-the-ear headphones with large bendable earhooks to help them stay put during active use, an upmarket take on a form that's usually been taken only by cheap "sports" headphones. It's an interesting form factor, with distinct advantages and disadvantages. In use, with any of the included eargels and any shape bent into the hooks, these Jabras stay well outside the ear canal. This is a deliberate design feature, since it allows a lot of environmental noise in -- helping users stay safe while running near traffic, for instance -- but it also has some bad consequences for the sound. The headphones are very weak in the bass and lower midrange, not producing much richness of tone even for non-bass-heavy music (and they're pretty much unacceptable for hip-hop even with heavy EQ bass boosting). In any use, they need to be driven very loud, near the top of the volume range, for acceptable sound, cutting down on battery life and headroom. The sound tends toward tinny treble-heaviness, but is otherwise pleasant; still, at this price point, there are a host of far better choices for serious music-listening.The nifty form factor is what makes these Jabra headphones worth considering for active users, despite their average-at-best sound quality. Their distinctive wide, rubbery, yellow cable is excellent, the best I've seen on any set of portable earphones for resisting tangling, and includes a useful, moveable clip as well as a phone-compatible mic/remote. (But the in-line volume control is useless, considering how loudly they need to be driven in order to be audible at all; every user will have to leave it at maximum.) The earphones themselves have massive, rubbery-silicone ear hooks, which can be bent into a shape that keeps them in place even if you're moving around a lot -- a great design for exercise. The downside is that the ear hooks are so clunky and fat that they are very hard to fit with glasses -- worn with glasses, they tend to come unhooked easily, or to end up in uncomfortable positions.TL;DR: In short, these headphones are pretty good for:* use while exercising outdoors* preserving the ability to hear your surroundings* resisting cable tanglingBut DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER buying these if:* you wear glasses* you like very loud or bass-heavy music* you want rich, deep sound for music listening in a quiet environment* you want to be isolated from environmental noiseRecommended only for heavy outdoor-exercise use; for any other use, you can get much better sound for the money with a different set of headphones. For great quiet listening sound in an outside-the-ear headphone, try some larger Grado cans instead; for a portable set of noise-isolating earphones with excellent sound, consider in-ear models from Klipsch or Shure. None of these is directly comparable to these Jabras' oddball exercise-friendly form factor, of course -- but as a result they're also free of the compromises that the form imposes on the Jabras' sound quality. And users who want ear hooks for active use but don't care much about sound might also want to try a cheaper set of sports earphones before deciding to spend this much on workout-only headphones.

4Very Good Corded Sports Headphones
By Dr. Bojan Tunguz
Listening to music is an indispensible part of my workout. Over the years I've used many corded and cordless headphones, and all of them come with their own sets of pros and cons. As far as I am concerned, these Jabra Sport headphones are the best corded sports headphones that I've come across.Putting the headphones around your ears is a bit tricky, but once they are there they stay firmly in place. These headphones don't fit as tightly as some of the around-the-head wireless headphones that I have used (such as MOTOROKR S9), but they are much more comfortable. I've tried using them while running and they are did not fall out, something that regularly happens with my iPhone headphones. The sound quality of these headphones is OK. It's on par, or maybe slightly better, than the standard earphones that come with iPod and iPhone. It can't, however, compete with higher end in-ear headphones, especially those that provide some kind of noise cancellation. However, I've found that noise-canceling headphones are actually really weird to use with phone calls, so if the sound quality is not high on your priority list or if you want to have headphones that work well with phone calls, then these sport headphones might be for you.Overall I am fairly happy with the telephony features of these headphones. I've tried them with iPhone and Skype, and in both cases they performed well. The call quality was as good as they come. The headphones dropped out of the music player and picked up phone signal on my iPhone with no discernable glitches. This feature is often advertised with these kinds of headphones, but it doesn't always work smoothly. The headphone cords are well made and thanks to couple addition long enough to accommodate placement of the mp3 player almost anywhere on your body. There is a small plastic clip on the cord that allows you to fasten it to your clothing. This comes in handy when you are working out as it prevents the cord from getting entangled with your workout equipment. There is a volume slider on the cord as well, but unfortunately there are no buttons for skipping tracks. The cord is thin and flat (think linguini as opposed to spaghetti) and this helps prevent entanglements.I have not used these headphones long enough to know how sweat, rain and dust they are resistant. In my experience sweat is the biggest enemy of all exercise-aimed headphones, and have not come across any that don't eventually break down. The Jabra headphones seem well rubberized with hardly any buttons that could come in touch with sweat, so I am willing to give them a benefit of a doubt in this department. The headphones come with a small carrying case. If you regularly put your headphones in a gym bag or any other rough environment, then you will appreciate having them protected in such a case. The case also helps with the entangling problems. It is very easy to open and placing the headphones in it is straightforward and convenient. So far, I am satisfied with these headphones. If I discover anything else that warrants reporting I'll post it in this review in some future update.

2Uncomfortable, poor sound quality, and not fantastic for exercising
By JJ
Although I find earbuds to be incredibly convenient and easy-to-use most of the time, they really don't work that well for exercising or doing strenuous activity. I decided to try these out for when I want to listen to music while moving around a lot. Unfortunately, when after much work I finally got these to stay in my ear, they proved to be incredibly uncomfortable and not play music that well either. The Bad:-They're uncomfortable. This headset has a hook-like design that fits around your ear much like a bluetooth headset. The hook is does not seem to have been developed with comfort in mind at all; although it may very well feel differently on someone else's ear. The hook push into my ear so hard that just wearing the headset for a few minutes causes my outer ear to ache horribly. If I try to loosen the headset, it creates an entirely different problem.-They're either too tight or too loose. When they're tight, you get the uncomfortable feeling that I just described. When you loosen them, however, they are quick to fall off the instant you ever-so-slightly shake your head. If it didn't claim to be a "sports headset" it wouldn't be as big of a problem, but I was honestly looking for something that would stay on my ear throughout heavy movement without me having to tighten it to the point of pain. The problems don't stop at how these headsets fit, though.-They don't have good sound quality. There are extension cords added with the headset to make it easier to not have to have your phone or iPod extremely close to you. Unfortunately, with each extension you add on, the sound quality gets worse; and when all three cords are connected, the sound is distorted beyond recognition. With just the smallest cord, the sound quality is pretty good but still not competitive with the sound from earbuds. The Good:-They are slightly customizable. There are different pads that you can place on the actual headset "speakers" to adapt them to your personal inner ear. This is a nice touch that I wish could somehow be used on the hook, as well.Overall, I really don't like or recommend this headset to anyone looking for something to use while exercising or moving. I'm sure other ear shapes will fit perfectly with this headset, but my ear shape clashes. I'd even go as far to say that I recommend earbuds over this headset. I just wasn't pleased at all with the product and won't be using it often at all.

5Slick design, lightweight, solid noise cancellation and easy listening
By Jerry Saperstein
In our era, the collection of matchbook covers from a thousand restaurants and bars has been superseded by the gaggle of abandoned and unloved Bluetooth headsets. My Plantronics Voyager 510, though, has seen a lot of Bluetooth headsets come and go in its time. For some reason, the 510 has remained my most often used BT headset, despite its very weird power adapter connector. But the Plantronics Voyager Pro HD may be the new kid on the block and quickly become my go-to Bluetooth headset. The Pro HD is a beautiful piece of design. It weighs practically nothing and the housing is perfectly designed to slip over and balance on your upper ear. I've worn it for several days now and, with one exception, have almost forgotten it was there. The exception is when I put on or take off my glasses - that requires some maneuvering simply because there isn't that much room between my skull and my ear. So I have to make sure everything is arranged just right. Plantronics has winnowed down buttons and functions to arrive at an efficient and minimalist three buttons. The Power Button has three functions: 1) power on or off, 2) battery voice level alerts and 3) pairing activation. This last, after so many headsets that force me to remember arcane combinations of two buttons, is a blessing. Hold the power button down until the LED flashes red/blue and you're good to go. The Volume/Mute Buttons also have three functions: 1) adjust volume level, 2) mute the mic (with a 1 second press of volume + and buttons) and 3) pause/play streaming audio. These buttons are generously sized and rise just a bit above the surface of the case for quick and sure operation. Finally the Call Button allows you take or end a call, redial, initiate voice dial (if your phone supports it) and reconnect lost connections between the headset and device. Set-up is dirt simple: hold the power button down for a couple of seconds until the LED flashes red/blue and pair I with your device. I paired it with my Lenovo laptop and Motorola Photon 4G phone in just a few seconds without hassle. The headset will support two device connection profiles. The Voyager Pro HD is capable of A2DP so you can steam music, podcasts, GPS announcements and the like from a suitably equipped phone or other device. Remember, though, that not all phones and computers support A2DP. Mine do and the unit performed well with Pandora and other streaming audio. Volume could be higher but, frankly, if my hearing were better I probably wouldn't complaining. The headset, by the way, ships with a medium eartip installed and small and large ones in the box. I'm going to try the small eartip to see if I can get a better seal to block extraneous noise. The microphone is supposed to be noise-cancelling and my tests to date indicate that it does a pretty good job. I tested it with a few online recording services, dictating to Audacity sound editing software and in chatting with people. The humans reported they could hear me clearly and I was, frankly, surprised by the clarity of my voice on the recordings. At some point, I will test it with Dragon Naturally Speaking to see how it works with voice recognition software. The Voyager Pro HD has sensors and can recognize when the headset is being worn. This is pretty neat stuff. You don't have to keep the headset on your ear all the time. Leave it off and when you put it on to take a call, the headset turns on. Very neat! Likewise, if you leave the headset off and there is an incoming call, the headset will route the call to the phone. As with many headsets, an incoming call stops audio streaming. Battery life is excellent, in excess of four hours talk time and I don't know how long it will actually last in standby. Charging is via a standard microUSB port. Plantronics includes an AC adapter and a separate USB cable. Nice of them. A one-year basic subscription to Dial2Do is included, under the Plantronics Vocalyst branding. Dial2Do is an interesting service allowing you to leave reminders, send and listen to emails and texts - if you pay for an upgraded subscription, post to Twitter and Facebook, connect to EverNote and a little more. It is a pricey service, so check it out thoroughly before you become too enamored of it. Overall, this is a beautiful Bluetooth headset, not only in terms of the sleek and smooth design, but in the feature set as well. From the simple three-button operation to the excellent noise-cancelling microphone and the pretty good audio output. My favorite feature, though, is the weight and fit of the unit. I can put it on and wear it for hours without any discomfort. That, to me, is very, very cool.Jerry

2Unpleasant audio; incomplete automatic behavior
By M. Kobb
I purchased this headset from a local store, not from Amazon, because I needed it immediately. But, I read the reviews here and I had high hopes that it would be a great headset for me.Unfortunately, while the headset has several innovative features and is comfortable and well made, two issues have caused me to return it.I should start by saying that I used the headset with the iPhone 4S.First, the good. The headset is comfortable and easy to put on and take off, although the large piece that goes behind the ear is difficult to put on while wearing my Oakley M-frame sunglasses (I have to move the temple on the glasses, put on the headset, then put the glasses back in place). People I called reported that the audio quality was very good. I like that the unit has real volume buttons and a real "answer" button. I like that it shows battery level on the iPhone's screen. I like that when you turn the headset on, if it's on your ear, you hear it report the expected talk time remaining via speech. Bluetooth reception was adequate. The proximity sensor is a great idea, and some aspects worked well. I *really* liked being able to answer a call or switch to the headset just by putting it on my ear. I will miss this feature a lot! On other headsets, I've had problems where I have been speaking on the handset, and I happen to walk through a room where my Bluetooth headset is sitting. When the headset comes into range, the call switches to the headset, and mayhem ensues. This headset won't do that, because it "knows" that it's not on your ear. Now, the issues.First, the audio is, in my opinion, trying too hard to be "HD". It sounds to me as if there is a substantial treble boost applied, so when listening to speech (either on the phone or via A2DP on a podcast), sibilant sounds like "S" are over emphasized and actually a bit painful to have blasted right into the ear. I think the audio would also benefit from some applied dynamic range compression, particularly on phone calls. When driving, if I turn the headset up loud enough to reliably hear the other party, those sibilant sounds are excruciating. And, when the other party happens to shift their own telephone so that their voice gets a bit louder, you really get blasted. Reducing the dynamic range would be entirely appropriate for telephone audio.Second, despite the great aspects of the proximity sensing feature, it is a bit unreliable, and also not well implemented for A2DP. I had several occasions where putting the headset down on a table caused the proximity sensors to believe that it was on my ear, and this caused paused audio from the iPhone to resume playing -- through the headset I'm not wearing. Result: lost place in my podcast. More bothersome, it continues to accept A2DP audio even when it knows that it's not on your ear. On the iPhone, this means that all iPhone audio signals like text alerts, key clicks, sound effects, etc, are sent to the headset sitting on the desktop, instead of coming out the iPhone's speakers as they should. This really completely defeats the purpose of the proximity sensor, and makes the only viable option turning the headset off completely when it's not in use (so you lose the proximity-based answering feature as well).I hope Plantronics may address these shortcomings in the future, or perhaps another manufacturer may implement a sensing feature. I will truly miss the parts of this headset that worked well, but I can't risk damaging my hearing with the blasting treble, and I'm tired of missing text alerts on my phone because the audio is not routed properly.

4Sounds As Good As a Wired Headset
By Wild West
I've had quite a few bluetooth headsets over the past couple of years, and this is my favorite. I currently go back and forth between this one and the Motorola HS850, another top headset. In my opinion, the Jabra 250v edges out the Motorola HS850 in a couple ways: 1) The Jabra is easier to hear. The earpiece is an earbud style on the Jabra, while the Motorola has an on-the-ear style speaker. My first thought when I bought them was that either one should work fine. But the Motorola is very hard to hear because it sits out on top of the ear. And if there is any background noise it's even worse. On the other hand the Jabra excels at being easy to hear, especially when there is background noise (such as car noise, people talking, etc.) because the earpiece is set slightly in the ear. And for the ultimate in hearing clarity, the Jabra ships with two styles of rubber covers for the earpiece, and one really sets in the ear, much like a good pair of earbud headphones. 2) The Jabra is more comfortable on the ear. The Jabra sort of hangs over the ear, and behind, with the microphone pointing forward. For me, after a few minutes, I don't even notice it's there. The Motorola clips *to* the ear, on the top flap of the ear, and to me just feels a little in the way, and a little floppy. One thing I really wish the Jabra had is an easier way to turn it off and on. You have the press the on/off button for about 5 seconds to switch it, which can get a little old. The Motorola has a super slick on/off method: you just flip the microphone boom down over the earpiece.CONCLUSION: Great sound. Great battery life. Very good comfort. An easy on/off switch and I'd be thrilled.

4Very pleased with this headset
By Jonathan
I recently got my first Bluetooth phone and based on a few reviews I read online and the recommendation of the phone-store owner I picked this headset. I use it with a Motorola Razr. They work together quite well. This is an ear-bud type headset meaning it's slightly less comfortable but far more stable and better sounding than the flat ones. If there were a warning with this headset it would be not to buy it online. Mine came, in a sealed package, with the wrong power adapter. It was very easy to remedy this in the phone store, but would have been difficult had I bought it online.Pros:*Excellent sound quality both for myself and the person with whom I'm speaking*The volume can be increased so that the conversation is clear even with background noise*Very easy to set up with the phone*Seems to have decent battery life so far*Seamlessly works with the phones voice-dial feature*Answer, end and voice-dial all done with a single buttonCons:*After a few hours (more than 2) of wearing the headset it irritates the backside of my ear.*No way to tell how much battery charge I have left*The phone and headset must be kept on the same side of the body for the best sound*I would really love it if this earpiece had a USB mini charger and didn't need a charging cradle

5If you need to use this in a noisy environment, this is the one to get!
By Wayne Rugenstein
I drive a tractor trailer for a large shipping company (a 2005 Kenworth T800) and needed a headset to use while at work. I tried a Motorola HS801 and HS850, but found they were not loud enough to hear in the high ambient noise environment of a semi-truck.The BT250v has a noise cancelling microphone, which effectively keeps the conversation quiet for whom I'm talking to, and the in the ear design insures I can hear every word being spoken to me. I am really impressed with this headset, I drive 2500 miles every week, the long battery life is great and it's comfortable enough to leave on your ear all day.

5Works as advertised
By Paul
Considering my prior experience with an AT&T cordless phone (E5965C), and some of the negative reviews posted here, it was with reluctance that I purchased this unit along with an expansion handset (EP562). This is the only cordless phone I found that has all the features I'm looking for (bluetooth capability, being able to listen to messages from both the handsets and the base unit, a spare battery stored in the base unit allowing the phone to be used during power outages, blinking light on each handset for new messages).I've had the phone for about a week now and have had no issues at all. The phones were a breeze to set up and configure. The user interface is easy to understand and navigate. Voice quality is very good. The Bluetooth connection works very well for me when I connect it to my cell phone. I've yet to experience a disconnected call.Battery life is much improved over my other AT&T phone. The handsets can go more than 1 day without being charged. My only complaints are a few relatively minor issues. The system has a telephone directory where you can store names and telephone numbers. Directory entries are stored separately on each handset and the base unit. There is no way to transfer directory entries from one handset to the other or to the base unit. With a set-up like mine if I want to have the same directory on the two handsets and the base unit they must all be entered manually. Rather tedious. I like the idea of having separate directories but it would be nice to have the ability to transfer individual entries, or the entire directory, between handsets and the base unit. The same goes for the caller ID log. The system stores the 100 most recent incoming calls. These calls must be cleared off of each handset and the base unit individually. It would be nice to have a global setting that would clear out the Caller ID Log on the entire system. Again, minor issues.. :)07/22/2008: I've had this phone for about 7 months now. It still works very well. I've recently started using it along with a bluetooth headset. No problems at all with disconnects or voice quality. Great product AT&T! Keep making phones like this one.

5In Life, You Can Never Have too Many Extensions
By George McAdams
A month or so ago, I had to bite the bullet and purchase a new cordless phone system because one of the extensions on my then current system went out on me. It was at that point that I discovered that my old phone system could only have 6 extensions, and once those extensions were used-up, then you were up-the-creek if anything happened to one, or in my case two, of the linked extensions because the system could not be reset...I was tempted to purchase less expensive phone systems, but the EP5632 seemed to have what I needed most of all: great distance, it could handle Bluetooth cell phones and it could handle up to 12 extensions. After having it a month, adding 5 extensions in addition to the base, I have been very pleased with it and its ease of operation.Hooking it up was a breeze. You just place a handset into the telephone base, press MENU on the base, go up or down until "Register Handset" appears, then press "select." Setting-up the Bluetooth was almost as easy, as any Bluetooth pairing could be, which isn't always the case, and to me, the directions were clear. After using the system for a couple of days, my wife and I programed the phones to our liking. I say this because the handsets allow you a lot of individuality with regards to different ringtones for different callers, assigning pictures to show when different callers call, etc. For us, when we assigned different ringtones, we made sure we had the same ringtone on each phone (for her daughter, especially), that way you didn't have four or five sounds producing a dischord when someone called; however, in our case, that might not have been a bad idea. We, also, liked the feature that you could individually name each phone, and we also added a color to the name (e.g. "George's Room - Red"), to match the color of the electrical tape that we placed on each base and handset. We have a tendency to make and receive certain calls from certain extensions, and I definitely don't want to have to scroll through all of my wife's important people to find the phone number of my friends, so you could say we didn't mind putting in the numbers in each phone. Also, having the extensions individually named made it a lot easier to use the intercom. And, like most cell phones now, when a person calls you, you can just press a button and that person is added to your extension. The voice mail notifications were great! We could see if we received a voice mail while we were on the phone (a light would blink on the extension), or if we had received a message on the base telephone recorder. In the case of a recording on the base, the phone would tell us we had a "message." Additionally, the phone would tell you if you had any missed calls. We live in a stone house, and sometimes electronic signals have to bounce off a lot, but I haven't had any trouble with the phone inside our two-story house or even the garage that makes the signals go through 5 walls. We, also, get to roam about a little bit over a half-a-block (250 feet) on outside use. With the base upstairs, we get pretty good cell service, and by using the Bluetooth, our cell service goes anywhere inside or outside our house without any dropped signal. NOTE: Our daughter quickly discovered that she could call us on our cell phone without there being a long distance charge, or her using any of her "minutes," since we both have the same cell-phone service, and the call would go through the "house" phone thus giving us reception that was better for us because we could use the cordless phone handsets.All-in-all, I've enjoyed using the EP5632 and would recommend it to anyone who needs to have a lot of extensions, or the other features I have commented on.UPDATE: I was getting a little ansy about upgrading my AT&T EP5632 because of the DECT models, because I noticed that several could make cell calls from the base. Well, after a year, I finally looked at the manual. Not only can you make cell calls from the base, but from the individual extensions. If you Bluetooth cell phone is linked to the AT&T EP5632, you just press in the numbers you want to call (and you usually don't have to put a "one" first because this will be a cell call), and you press the cell button at the bottom right of the extension. There is another difference I noticed: this phone has a 20 number re-dial, not 5 number, like most other cell phones. It looks like I'll be keeping this one a little longer...

4Pretty impressed with this system!
By S. James
Pretty impressed with this system. We bought it for the bluetooth interface, so cellular calls and landline calls all come through the same handset when we're home. Best phone we've ever owned. Interested in how this technology will mature (see quirks (below)). The good news: -------------- * Color display is nice. Available wallpapers and ringers on handset are pleasing. * Sound quality is good on handset, handset speakerphone, and base speakerphone. * Voicemail messages come through clearly on the handsets, even through the handset speakerphones. * Displays are bright, clear, and easy to read. Menus are intuitive and easy to navigate. * Range on the handsets is very good. Range on bluetooth is exceptional. * Bluetooth automatically connects to our cell phones as soon as we arrive home. It does have its quirks: --------------------- * Caller ID is not enumerated - as you scroll through, you're never sure exactly how many more calls there are in memory. * Bluetooth is solid now, and automagically connects both of our cell phones when we arrive home (manual says 12' distance from main console; our chargers are ~30' from the main console). However, on initial setup, added cell #1, added cell #2, had to remove and re-enter cell #1 before it would auto-discover. * Users can not add their own pictures for wallpaper (disappointing) * Users have limited ability to record their own ringer (and only on handset) * Some of the controls are not consistent with industry "standards". For instance: 4-way pad navigates to an option. Can not press [right] or press 4-way pad down to select the options; you must move to another key to select the options. * Base retains the recorded outgoing voicemail message when the power goes out, but immediately loses track of what time it is. Planning to purchase the optional standby battery for the base (it charges an extra handset battery in the base if you have a spare), hoping it will keep the clock in the base alive, like in previous at&t phones we've owned. * Interesting note: Not a shortcoming of this system, but keep in mind that if you have bluetooth in your car(s) and if you park within 30' of where you charge your cell phone, your car(s) and home phone may fight over control of your cell phone. Overview: -------- Read another review that said this phone may not be ready for prime-time. There are some quirks to it (I'm certain they'll soften some of the rough edges as time goes on -- and in reference to the other reviewer's notes, be aware that there also doesn't appear to be a way to upgrade the firmware on this phone if you buy this version, so what you get on day 1 is what you get for the life of the phone). All in all, if you want an excellent system that ties in your bluetooth cell phones, or if you use only cell phones and prefer not to have a landline at all, this is definitely the way to go!

2Had to buy a different bluetooth
By tina1181
I have a Samsung Fascinate phone and do most of my talking while in the car, i bought this bluetooth basically because of price but once i received it i ended up having to buy a new one. People on the opposite end of the line thought they were on speaker phone, or they couldn't here me at all, most everyone thought i was in bad signal areas as the call was breaking up. Definitely could've been the connection with the bluetooth thru my phone (not sure) but this bluetooth unfortunately did not work out in my favor.
