By J. Leonard
I have tried at least 20-30 different BT headsets over the years, and I have always found things I didn't like about each one. So I would get rid of it, or wait until I lost it, and then move on to a different one. I have tried all of the latest and greatest models which are supposed to have the best noise cancellation, best audio quality, best reception range, blah blah....but I always find flaws. Either they aren't comfortable, or the range sucks, or they won't stay in my ear, or the noise cancellation is non existing, or I can't hear the person on the other end, or they can't hear me, or in most cases - a combination of multiple things. That brings us to the Jawbone Icon HD. Let me just say this - I had one for about 4 months before I lost it, and for the first time EVER I replaced it with the exact same model! That's right, I believe that I have found the holy grail of bluetooth headsets. It is comfortable, lightweight, small, stays on your head (once you figure out which of the 6 earpieces fits your ear best), the noise cancellation is AMAZING, sound on my end is loud & clear, the other person can always here me fine, the range is acceptable, and the battery life is pretty good (4-5 hours talk time). Just to give you an idea of how incredibly well the noise cancellation works: I work in a golf shop and we do club repair which involves a high speed cutoff saw and a 42" sanding machine, and I can be in the repair room with the sander and cutoff saw both running and the person on the other end can hear me fine with just a hint of interference. To put that into perspective, I have a hard time shouting to a person standing directly next to me in that room and having them understand me, that's how loud it is in there. But this headset cancels that all out and allows your voice to come through loud & clear. I also like that it has A2DP which allows you to stream music directly to your headset, so any time you're in the mood for some background music you don't need to bust out your headphones and nobody has any idea that you're listening to music. Obviously the audio streaming quality doesn't come close to that of dedicated headphones, but that is more of a side perk than a main feature. So what don't I like about this headset? The earpieces are a little tricky to figure out, but once you get a hang of putting it on it stays put until you take it off. I have even played golf with it on and didn't even realize I was wearing it until about the 8th hole, and even then it wasn't until my buddy asked me why I'm wearing a bluetooth on the golf course like a D-bag. The other thing that could be improved upon is the way the earpiece attaches to the headset, because it always comes loose in my pocket and I need to dig it out and reattach it. I even lost it one time and had to buy a replacement, and rather than being able to buy a pack of the "medium w/ring" (my preferred earpiece) I had to buy a 6-pack with one of each - even though I'm just going to throw the other 5 out since only one fits my ear. I wish they made mult-packs of each size so you can buy a bunch of one specific size once you figure out which one works best for you. Also, and this is the KEY to getting the best performance out of this (or any Jawbone headset), you MUST make sure that the little rubber nub on the end of the headset stays in contact with your cheek to get the best noise cancellation and best audio quality on the other end. This is because that little rubber nub acts is a receptor which senses the vibrations of your voice and uses that to optimize the noise cancellation. When you aren't talking and it doesn't sense any vocal vibrations, it will be dead silent on the other end. And when you are talking, it can sense the vibrations of your voice and it uses that to distinguish your voice from the sounds around you and it cancels out everything else. Simply amazing.Would I recommend this? HANDS DOWN, 100%. Does it take a little getting used to with the figuring out which earpiece is best and how to best insert it into your ear so it stays put? Yes, it does. But once you get that part squared away you won't be able to live without it.

I have small ears and have tried bluetooth headsets before, but they always ended up hurting or falling out. After much research, I decided to try the Jawbone Icon HD. It works great and is so comfortable. I would definitely recommend this product.

Received this item less then a week ago and was working Great until I went to charge it the second time. It started saying, 15mins left and keep activating Voice Commands. So I unpaired the device and put it on the charger. Noticed the Red Ring didn't light up any more. Left it in Charger for over an hour, took it off Charger and tried to connect and pair. It absolutely refuses and won't turn back on. I'm starting to think this was a Refurbished item, because the manual looked used. Seller doesn't allow exchanges, only returns. I decided to return and repurchase directly from Amazon and pay the extra $20 for Retail Packaging which allows an Exchange if I have another issue. This soley is to blame on the seller. The product itself is fantastic, excellent call quality, long battery life, allows user to listen to Audio and reads Callers ID and tells you amount of talk time left. The moral of the story is to be careful, who you purchase items from. If it's to good of a deal, there's a reason and clearly the sellers aren't being straight forward with customers.
