By That Guy
I can't give the headset a bad review, because I've had Motorola headsets before and they've always been splendid. But in this case, I wish I could give a negative review to Amazon.com, who did not disclose that this item comes in bulk packaging. While I'm fine with buying something minus the retail packaging, in this case, the bulk packaged unit comes without the 3 in-ear earpieces that come with the retail version.I'm contacting Amazon to see if they'll remedy the situation - but buyer beware! It looks like both this one and one other Motorola H17 listed on the Amazon site both come direct from Amazon in bulk packaging.

By D. Millar
I'm sorry to say that I believe these items to be illegal counterfeit copies or used/refurbished copies of the Motorola H17. This review does not allow me to specify a seller, but I purchased mine from Seller1ON1. I can't speak to whether other merchants are receiving/selling the same product, but I thought it was worth alerting Amazon and Amazon customers to the possibility that they may be getting illegal second-rate merchandise. Please see associated pictures for identifiers.READ THIS DISCLAIMER: I cannot say for certain that these are counterfeit; I believe so, but you'll have to come to your own conclusion based on the evidence. For those of you who have already purchased this item, take some time to look at the markings and decide whether it is worth asking for a refund.I ordered this item as a replacement for an verified real H17 that I bought new in the packaging at Costco. I had the original accessories and instruction manual; later, when I bought another verified real H17 at Costco, I had a certified Motorola product to compare. The first item I received from the seller appeared to charge when plugged in, but did not make the customary wakeup sound upon turning it on (a distinctive Motorola chime, plus a female voice talking about pairing). I tried to pair with my iPhone and my iPhone did not detect the item. I wrote the seller and said I would be willing to accept a replacement if they could ship it quickly. They responded within a day and assured me they would send another. The second item arrived in the mail about 8 days later. The second item appeared visually the same, but had a different earpiece (the hard plastic one, vs. the soft loop in the picture). It also appeared to charge, and did pair with the phone, but like the first did not make the motorola chime/message, and also did not work with a call. At this point I got suspicious, and contacted Motorola.Motorola was not very helpful, unfortunately-- they have shipped their customer service to the Philippines. Apparently the H17 is sold without a serial number, so the only thing that can be used is the item number on the unit, which can be easily fabricated since it's the same for every unit. I asked if there was any other way to verify whether it was genuine and they directed me to a detailed document comparing real and fake Motorola products side by side. Unfortunately, the document was from 2007, and did not include the H17.Left to my own devices, I did my own visual comparison and found the following:1. The instruction book to the verified real H17 has a stapled "pamphlet" binding and is printed in Mexico; the assumed fake has a square binding (like a book) and is printed in China. There was also a score (like from a razor) on the back of one fake booklet. Otherwise they were identical. (Note: I got the two bindings mixed up before; fixed here.)2. The verified real H17 has a small dot below the word "H17" on the inside of the unit; ONE of the two suspected fakes did not; the other did.3. The imprint text on the inside of the unit was a bit faded on the assumed fakes; the text was clear and distinct on the verified real.4. The verified real item had a Motorola hologram sticker attached to the plastic earpiece loop; both assumed fakes did not. (HOWEVER: Both the verified real and assumed fakes appeared to have a Motorola hologram sticker on the power adapter.)5. The assumed fakes both had *very* subtle but noticeable mold lines or markings (I'm not sure which) in the plastic; the verified real H17 did not. This possibly could have come also from simply being used, I'm not sure.I have posted pictures of the above with side-by-side comparisons. If these are fakes, they are fairly good fakes-- except for not working, I might not have suspected. If anyone else can verify this, please post so that we all know.AGAIN, FOR THE RECORD: I cannot verify 100% that these are fakes, nor that the seller knows they are fake, if they are. The seller was responsive and refunded my money quickly after the second failure. I do think that it is extremely unlikely that I got two successive brand new defective Motorola products in a row. I also believe it very unlikely that Motorola decided to print markings differently, or to eliminate the wakeup chime, or print their instruction book in China vs. Mexico. If you want to go ahead and buy this product, you can-- you might even get a working fake. But since part of what you are paying for is Motorola quality control, you might want to reconsider and pay a bit more for a verified real product from Amazon.

Do not buy from this company, They is not Trustworthy and send you the wrong parts and not the right one. I ordered the motorola h17 bluetooth and look like it was ues and the sent me a charger that did not work. I have tried leaving emails and called many of times and have not gotten not one response. DON'T DO IT. On top of that the Ear peice does not work. I'm sending it back for a full refund.
